To take good permanent notes:

  • Review, reduce, and categorize relevant literature notes.
  • Create notes as if you are teaching someone. Elaborate.
  • Recontextualize new permanent notes notes.
    • Why do you care about it? Under what contexts is it useful? Add to context.
    • Why did the aspects I wrote down catch my interest? Why is it an important topic? Answer in a permanent note and ask more questions like “Why?” recursively to make new connections.
  • Make more connections with existing notes by viewing the local graph (depth set to 2 or 3). Seeing its connections might elicit new ideas.
