u-substitution

$u$-substitution is an integration technique that is applicable when the derivative of a part $u$ of the integrand appears somewhere else in the integrand.

After a $u$-substitution, no $x$ will be left in the integral, and the variable of integration becomes $u$ (determine the derivative of $u$ and substitute $dx$ for it). Continue with integration and substitute $u$ back when done.
