Here are some steps for using Zettelkasten (slip-box) as a writing tool.
- Do not start writing from scratch. Use the slip-box for inspiration.
- Find research topics and relevant notes by exploring the slip-box.
- Read more relevant literature. Add notes. Connect.
- Outline the argument / thesis.
- Reference (by linking or transcluding) notes in the outline.
- Go through the outlines. Process the notes, make new connections, and write stuff.
- Proofread.
Multitasking is good
Multiple topics can be investigated simultaneously. Oftentimes progress is made through accidental discovery of connections between these topics.
