ECS154A Lecture: SR latch, D latch

SR latch is bistable:

$S$ : set $Q = 1$
$R$ : set $Q = 0$
Note that setting both $S$ and $R$ results in an unstable output, so it is not allowed. Truth table:

Note that the D-latch is transparent when CLK is high, i.e., it acts on level, so it cannot be used in a sequence to form a shift register.
